A day after the gangrape with 20 year old girl on South city road near Village Isewal, the Police have released sketches of six suspects on Tuesday. The Police have detained around three persons for questioning but no formal arrest has been made. On Saturday night, around ten persons raped 20 year old girl after abduction. The accused held male friend of victim hostage in car and raped the victim.
The Police have called the sketch artists from Amritsar and as told by the victim, sketches of six suspects were prepared. The Police have identified two accused and conducted raids at several places. Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Ludhiana Range Ranbir Singh Khatra said that police teams were on the job and conducted raids at several places. The Police have detained some suspects and questioning them. They have circulated sketches of suspects and got vital clues in the case and will arrest all the culprits shortly, he added.
Police sources said that the Police have obtained registration number of motorcycle of accused and traced the accused. Moreover the sketches of suspects were circulated and some persons were detained from village Isewal, Sangowal of Ludhiana. The raids were also conducted in Nawa Shehar district in this connection. In morning, the Police have detained Gurpreet Singh of village Isewal and he was in Police custody till evening. The family members of Gurpreet pleaded innocence and said that Gurpreet was along with them during the timings of incident.
Another suspect was detained from village Sangowal. He was questioned for few hours and later taken to some place for raid.Meanwhile, the Police officials said that the condition of victim is stable and she is cooperating with Police for the arrest of accused.
Case takes Political colour
The Shiromani Akali Dal leaders and workers carried out candle march and protested against the government. The Youth Akali Dal also condemned the gangrape with 20 year old girl in Ludhiana and demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh over law and order situation in state. Youth Akali Dal district president Meetpal Singh Dugri said that the gangrape with 20 year old girl has exposed the law and order situation in state but Chief Minister has no concern for the safety and security of people. The Youth Akali Dal demanded that Chief Minister who is holding the portfolio of Home department should owe the responsibility and take action against the guilty officials. The party also demanded the arrest of culprits within no time and strict punishment should be given.
