Ferozepur(Subhash Kakkar) – Kahan Singh Pannu, Chairman Punjab Pollution Control Board has visited the Ferozepur City in connection with the harvesting season of paddy straw where he presided over the meeting with the progressive farmers of the district ferozepur in which Gurwinder Singh Kang, Village Fidde, Swaran Singh, Gursewak SIngh, Village Sade Ke Rohila, Davinder Singh Village Hakumat Vala, Kaku Singh Village Toot, Virsa Singh Village Bukhan Khana and many other farmers attended the meeting along with Er. Ravi Pal AEE and Er. Raj Pal Singh Gill JEE from Regional Office, Faridkot.Stubble burning is causing multiple problems and affecting soil: PannuIn the meeting , the various farmers has explained their experiences regarding the management of the paddy straw without burning the same in the fields. After hearing the experiences of the farmers, the chairman of Punjab Pollution Control Board appreciated the steps taken by the farmers regarding the non-burning of paddy straw. He also informed to the farmers regarding the ill effects of the stubble burning as the same is causing multiple problems that include affecting the soil health, besides causing environmental pollution along with the destruction of many friendly species in the fields. He further stated that the farmers who are not burning their paddy straw are the true sons of their mother land.Stubble burning is causing multiple problems and affecting soil: PannuChairman Punjab Pollution Control Board appraised the farmers regarding the decisions taken by the Hon’ble National Green Tribunal New Delhi in regard to the stubble burning in the fields. He requested the farmers not to burn the paddy straw which  leads to lethal air pollution. Dr. Mukhtiar Singh, Chief Agricultural Officer has also attended the meeting and he shared his experiences to plough the paddy straw into the fields without burning the same. He also appreciated  the farmers who are not burning the paddy straw and they also follow the instructions of the government and Hon’ble National Green Tribunal New Delhi. Stubble burning is causing multiple problems and affecting soil: PannuIn the last of the meeting the farmers thanked the chairman of the Punjab Pollution Control Board for the meeting and they also took pledge that they will not burn the paddy straw in their fields.
